summer tips for conscious use
Summer is coming, the beautiful season, but also the risk of drought (which is accompanied by a progressive and slow desertification)
This phenomenon, at least in recent years, is intensifying and closely concerns Italian regions as well. One no longer needs to go to the Sahara to discover that the absence of precipitation for long months is now a familiar historical fact.
Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Puglia, Sicily, and Sardinia are among the hardest hit regions. And what about Northern Italy?
Here rainfall events are increasingly proving to be true cloudbursts, alternating with periods of total absence of rain, causing water emergencies previously unknown.
At the root of this significant reduction in water availability is climate change, which is, however, accompanied by excessive land exploitation and the use (sometimes abuse) of water.
Therefore, on the day that summer officially begins, Como Acqua has decided to review the ten rules of conduct to adopt during the hot season... to protect oneself and safeguard water!
During the months of July and August, follow our tips… find them by leafing through the newspaper!
Don't cry over spilled milk...
1. Limit the use of the washing machine and dishwasher, making sure they run with full loads
2. Prefer the shower to the traditional bathtub. You can save up to 120 liters of water
3. Thaw food at room temperature and soak fruits and vegetables rather than washing them under running water
4. Do not water plants or garden during the day. Summer heat damages vegetation by leading to rapid evaporation
5. Drink enough to stay hydrated. At least 8 glasses of water are recommended, preferably fresh, straight from the tap.
6. Reuse rainwater
7. Use the toilet flush wisely
8. In summer, as always, keep an eye out for any leaks
9. And close the taps well!
